This is a wonderfully therapeutic stress and pain
reliever as well as a great DETOX that I like to tell my clients about that can help when you are sore, as a maintenance between massages, or if you just want to unwind and sleep really really deep or DETOX.
DIRECTIONS:
You are going to need between 12- 15 lbs of Epsom Salt (remember this is for a DETOX therapy)- so go to Walgreens or Target to get the unscented big bag of Epsom Salt.
Usually, women need about 12 lbs. and men need 15 lbs. but you can experiment with a little less if you are slight of frame (100 lbs). The goal is to make the water density greater than your body so that it can act like a siphon of sorts and draw out the impurities through the skin, while relaxing the muscles and melting the stress.
Pour the salt into about an inch or so of water in the tub until the salt is completely covered and let it dissolve for about 10 min. or so.
Fill the tub with HOT water ( as hot as you can take without burning yourself)
Soak for 12- 20 minutes.
Pull the plug to drain the tub, but do not get out of the water. As the water
drains out it continues to act as a siphon pulling out more toxins.
Rinse off with cool water for about 1 min to remove the impurities on the skin and tighten the pores. Take your regular shower.
SLEEP TIGHT.....................NIGHT NIGHT
A few things to keep in mind if you are going to do this soak:
If you have any health or medical concerns such as high blood pressure or diabetes, it is recommended to speak with your physician first.
Keep a cool compress handy and cold glass of orange juice or an electrolyte replenishing drink to help you stay hydrated as this process can be both depleting and intense.
Have someone in the house that can check on you and help you if need be.
Do NOT drink alcohol when doing the soak!!!!!
Not recommended for jetted tubs, as the salt can be corrosive to the inner components of jets.
